Shannon Walker is back and that’s great news for sevens fans but just as important to Australia’s chances of victory at the New Zealand 7s is the return of hard working forward Jesse Parahi.
Parahi is great at the breakdown and that’s critical in Wellington where the best defence is usually keeping the ball away from the opposition.
On the attacking side Walker and Pama Fou make for a very dangerous pairing and James Stannard and Con Foley are a highly competent halves pairing that will get them the ball.
With Ed Jenkins, Cameron Clark, Nick Malouf, Lewis Holland and Greg Jouladev, Coach John has a number of options.
This is a well balanced side that will take a lot of beating.
They will be confident from their performances so far this season that has them in 4th spot on the World Series table, just one point behind New Zealand.
Also, they have the shortest travel time of any team, the same seasons and just 3 hours time difference so nothing to acclimatise or recover from.
